Gimme a Brake: Signs Your Kanata Brakes Need Kanata Garage Attention
Last week we took a look at the many suspension issues your Kanata car could have as well as the causes. This week we’re taking a look at the variety of issues your brakes could have. Obviously brakes are one of, if not the most important part of your – so if you’re not sure how to fix these issues yourself, we encourage you to go to your favorite Kanata garage. Your safety literally depends on it.
Extremely Depressed Brake Pedal
If you have to press your brake pedal almost all the way to the floor to get your brakes to respond – get your car some Kanata auto care right away. The causes of this can include low or contaminated brake fluid, worn brake pads, or a bad brake power boost unit.
Brake Pedal Goes All the Way to the Floor
If your brake pedal actually goes all the way to the floor, the causes are the same as above or could even be a bad master cylinder.
Brake Pedal Too Firm
If all of the sudden you feel like you have to go to the gym to depress your brake pedal, your Kanata garage needs to examine your brakes. This could be caused by either a brake vacuum leak or a brake line obstruction.
Weak Brakes
If your brakes work but seem weaker than normal, as in it takes longer to stop, you could have low or contaminated brake fluid or worn brake pads.
Brakes Grabbing or Pulling
Your Kanata brakes should perform with smooth and even stopping when you push the pedal. If your Kanata brakes suddenly grab or seem to pull the car to one side, you may have worn or bad brake pads or even a bad brake disc. .
Pedal Vibration
There are lots of things which can cause the pedal to vibrate when you apply the brakes. Most Kanata cars are equipped with ABS (most are these days), the pedal will seem to vibrate when you brake very, very hard. The system does this to keep them from locking up. Causes for unusual pedal vibration can be bad brake pads, bad brake discs, or suspension issues including your Kanata car being out of alignment or having a worn front suspension – ball joints, a bad steering rack, worn tie rod ends, a bad wheel bearing or upper strut bearing, and even a bad front strut could cause it.
Brakes Dragging
If your brakes don’t let go immediately as you take your foot off the pedal, your brakes can overheat and cause an even more pricey visit to the Kanata auto repair garage. Causes of this typically are a bad wheel cylinder or even as simple as a parking brake that has failed to release.
Brakes Squealing
You know what this is… and if you say you don’t you are in denial. You need at the very least brake pad work from your local Kanata garage. The longer you wait, the worse it will get.
Brakes are not made to last the life of your car… but changing and taking care of your brakes will save YOUR life… if your Kanata auto has any of these issues, get to a Kanata auto repair garage right away.
